Glasgow Caledonian University has restructured within the Library to merge two existing teams to form a new Collections and Discovery team. Responsibilities for:
UWS will open a new service hub at paisley Campus Library in August 2016 and will inlcude ITDS, Library, Student Services, Registry and Finance functions.
The procurement and installation of Rebus:List 2 software for reading list management and stock control across the University of the Highlands and Islands has been announced.
Strathclyde University Library has acheived the NUS Green Impact Bronze award and is now working towards the Silver award.
Stirling University Library has signed a contract with Innovative to upgrade the library management system to Sierra. It is anticipated that migration and go-live will be completed by August 2016.
The Friends of Glasgow University Library have produced a history of the library with the book launched in June 2016.
Edinburgh University Library has received funding to digitise all their Ph.D. theses. This is the first part of the plan to put significant investment in to the digitisation of collections and associated activities.

The University of St Andrews announced an appointment of a Senior Research Information Manager working with the Pure system. The post is split between the Library and the Research Policy Office.
The SRUC announced Professor Wayne Powell has been appointed as Principal from July 2016. Formerly the Chief Science Office at CGIAR in Montpelier, France, and also previously Director of the National Institute of Agricultural Botany in Cambridge and Deputy Director of the former Scottish Cop Institute which is now part of the James Hutton Institute.
The Whittaker Library of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland was awarded their 3rd IAML (International Association of Music Libraries) Excellence Award, with particular commendations for their strong collection, highly qualified staff, and the marketing of services & resources through social media (@WhittakerLib) and the Whittaker Live! blog.
Many of the Mackintosh-designed light fittings, which were suspended from the ceiling of the Library, have survived as around 600 fragments. With the help of HES and the University of Glasgow, the exact metallurgical composition, surface finishes, strength and capability are being assessed for repair and re-use. The ambition is to reassemble those fragments and rehang.
Ten new galleries opened in July 2016 showcasing the best of the collections from decorative art, design, fashion, science and technology.
